Watching Paint Dry -- The One Year Anniversary of Construction

Tomorrow, June 23, will be the one year anniversary of when construction started. I wish I had time to reflect on this milestone but the "finishing" details, and paperwork involved in getting what is called a final Certificate of Occupancy are absorbing. But I do want to thank Mateo here for all his hard work and getting the job done so fast. The newly built house across the street, which saw the owner move in last week, took 2 1/2 years to build. It's on the right in the picture below. However, what I really took this picture for is to illustrate that the final okay was given to finish the street. The green marks in the asphalt are where new asphalt will be laid. And below is the new asphalt almost finished. New asphalt has to be laid in order for rain run-off to drain towards the sloping (left) part of the street.Meanwhile, the final finish of the stucco was placed on the garage. And the front gate was put in, creating some interesting angles.
And when the stucco on the garage dried, it matched exactly that of the house.
I knew the garage was a separate structure (I designed and layed it all out this way) but watching it go up drove the point in more than the drawings ever did. It was a very conscious decision to do the garage this way with an elevator tower and facade matching the house. Mateo added the roof above the tower. I hadn't designed one.
